On the same day as my contest round ended, I finished Paper Mario (if you can call it that). I beat the game (the final boss), and as I was watching the ending cutscene, the electricity in the neighborhood cut off. No, really. Seriously. Anyways, I beat the game, and some day I’ll go back and beat the last boss again and tackle the pit of 100 trials. Here’s the review.
SV/LYoHS/AfGSVGWB Stage 3 October 23, 2007

Here we go again, it’s time for stage three of the contest. This stage will be the smallest and, sadly, the last. Some games have been removed from the contest due to the fact that I have no inclination to play them. Before that, however, here are some awards for the previous round.

Well, a while back, I received this game as a Christmas present from my brother. I immediately picked upĀ the game and played through arcade mode with all the characters, and even ventured into the Weapons Master mode and beat it 100% (all levels, maximum character level and all weapons (but not all costumes and extras)) with my favorite character, Link.
Just recently, I picked the game back up for the VGWB, only to realize something horrible: I suck at SC2. I’m not talking slightly bad, but able to beat the game bad. No, I mean suck. I can’t do the moves, I can’t dodge, and I can’t even beat the first few levels on Weapons Master mode. What the heck happened?
I’m not really sure, but I can tell you this: I’m great at RPGs and FPSs, but I really suck at fighters. I’ve played Tekken with some of the greatest players in this country, and I was beaten by them. So, sadly, I have come to the realization that maybe fighters aren’t for me. Thus, I’m putting SC2 to one side, and instead moving on to Skies of Arcadia: Legends. Call me a cheat if you want, but it’s just too hard for me.

The Blue Bomber and his older, darker cousin, X, are both known for their excellent side-scrolling shooters. However, Capcom decided to switch the tried and true formula for a traditional turn-based combat RPG. How does the game fit in with the others in the series? Read on to find out.

While reading reviews of this game, you might see the words “roguelike”, “mystery dungeon”, “hard”, “unforgiving”, etc. These words all but sum up the experience of the game, but not in a negative way. Read on to find out if this game is worthy addition to the Atlus library or not.
Final Fantasy III Review July 20, 2007

A few years back, a small company released a NES game called Final Fantasy. This game would wither make or brake the company, as it was truly their “Final Fantasy”. The game was a major hit, and since then, we have seen 12 (or 13?) Final Fantasy games, many more spinoffs, remakes and games that played off FF’s success. We’ve seen the games on every possible platform from the NES to the Gameboy to the PS, PS2, DS, etc. A few years back, Square decided to remake the only FF game that we never saw here in the United States, Final Fantasy 3. How does the game compare to modern RPGs on the DS? Read on to find out. (more…)

Yeah, roughly four days after beating Zelda I beat Ultimate Spider Man. I’ve just been putting off writing a review. USM takes the tried and true formula from Spider Man 2 and takes it to the comic world. The game plays just like a comic would read, and even ends just as fast. Read on to find out how good the game really is. (more…)

Yesterday afternoon I beat Zelda: Twilight Princess. As the second game in the second round of my contest, is this entry in the Zelda world a great new adventure, or is it simply an updated version of previous games? Well, read on to find out. (more…)
SV/LYoHS/AfGSVGWB Stage 2: Round 2 June 25, 2007

Here’s a quick update on VGWB round 2: Zelda: The Twilight Princess. I got around 20 hours into the game, and I beat RE4’s mercenaries mode. Since then, I’ve been playing RE4 almost nonstop. I beat the story mode again (this time in 6 hours), and I’m on my third playthough now, trying to get enough money for the Infinite Launcher. Once I beat it this time, and get the Launcher, I’m going to put down RE4 for a little, and move on to the next few games in my contest.
In other news, I’m changing my review format in a hope to improve the reviews, and hopefully, make them a little shorter. I’ll be smashing graphics and audio into the first paragraph, gameplay into the second, and the other categories into the last (smaller) paragraph. Let’s hope this makes them a little better.
HandCannon! June 23, 2007

This might be the happiest day in my life as a gamer. I finally beat RE4’s Mercenaries mode with 5 stars on each level with every character! After I beat the Castle, the rest of the levels came easy, and I got 5 stars with Ada on the Waterworld on my first try. So, I unlocked the Handcannon, and I bought it in game. How is it? you might ask. Read on to find out. (more…)
